Holly; USA; Washington state; I usually draft on a computer or Chromebook. When I plan or edit or do other things on paper, I love colorful Frixion pens because they are erasable, baby! (Love those pens.)
Christine, MN, USA and I find myself writing on little scraps of paper everywhere and then typing them out on a word document. Someone asked me why little scraps of paper and I’m mystified at myself - I don’t know why. 😀
Those are so satisfying but do you only write on one side of the paper or do you have really thick paper?! I have a heavy grip so I can only write on one side of the paper in my journal with a ballpoint haha
I’ve got a really light grip when I write and usually use both sides. But that’s because I like the way the remnants of what I wrote on the page before still have a bit of a visible presence on the next page. It feels transitory, like moving water.
Keris, Wirral (opposite Liverpool), UK. Laptop all the way for me, although I do long for one of those fancy (expensive!) little Freewrite things (I loved my Alphasmart back in the day).
Joanna; Brisbane, Australia; pen and paper but always in a chaotic way, the idea of 1 notebook per project seems to be beyond me 😆 The process of transferring from paper to computer is also very enjoyable, this is when the chaos gets under control.
Caro, California, USA. Computer or iPad primarily, but fountain pen sometimes when I need to scratch things out on paper to think. What I really love is a clattering typewriter. I just moved into new office space at home and I'm trying to figure out where to put the IBM Selectric II I was gifted with during the various lockdowns so it can be used, not just admired. (I can then scan and convert.)
So much fountain pen love here I should try it. I also love the clacky clack sound. If Im feeling dysregulated typing on my Alphasmart really calms me down
Kim; Pennsylvania, USA; computer using Word and I also use 4 the words from time to time. When writing on paper, I love gel pens with thick barrels. It turns out that at my newish job, lots of vendors who visit leave behind notebooks. I have a nice collection now because no one else seems to want them.
You're like me -- I was always the one who was willing to give notebooks left over from events/left by vendors a home when I was in the corporate world.
Heidi; Ohio, USA; computer or iPad for typing using Word or Scrivener, and a Moleskin notebook I get in packs of 3 from Costco. Not sure of the size, but it's perfect--about 7.5" wide? Anyway, that and a Uniball Vision Elite pen. Not that I'm particular or anything.
Lani; Colorado, USA; computer for typing, and my iPad for actual writing, but when I need to write on paper... I'm a Crystal Bic girl, which I know will bring on disappointment for some. :)

I love that! And hey--never question the process. If it works, it's GOOD!
But I definitely want you to keep all the scraps and take a picture of them all when you finish the book. :)
I will start saving them. 😀
Sam | Maryland, USA | Pen for me journaling, keyboard for creative writing (my hand cant keep up with my thoughts).
Kera; USA, Ohio; Papermate Flair pens ♥️

I have an Alphasmart Neo and I love it! Really helps my tendencuy to self-edit. eBay babyyyy
I bought one a few years ago and couldn’t get on with it but idk why. I should try again.
ooh the freewrite looks very cool!
Ok I just googled Freewrite and omg I had no idea these things existed and I want one too!
A friend has one and loves it. I just google them now and then and sigh.

I also love to transfer to a computer.
I love this 😂

I do love the sound of a typewriter. I have one in my office because I also love the feeling I get looking at it. Like the feeling of having written.

Briar, UK, computer, although I do have a nice fountain pen for the rare occasions when I do write by hand
Is the fountain pen have history or something you purchased just for you?
just something I bought for myself - it's less painful than writing with a biro plus it looks nice!
Wow, a fountain pen. In my hands that would be an inky mess but I am sure you wield it elegantly!
oh it's absolutely an inky mess 🤣 but a fun inky mess haha
Hi! I’ve not been all over the UK, but I love the parts of the UK I’ve been able to see!
nice! I'm in North Yorkshire
I haven’t been. Though I am taking a trip in September to Edinburgh with my daughters. I’m always stoked to get back to the UK!
ooh nice, I've only been to Edinburgh once but it was lovely!
Hi Briar. Gorgeous name!
aw thank you, I chose it myself 😍😍
Oh lovely! I chose Fox myself (post-divorce).
Welcome, Briar, and a nice fountain pen is a great writing implement. I love it!
sadly I can't use it too much because painnn but I do enjoy it when I do!

Ohhhh score on the notebooks. Nice perk.
Pennsylvania! We’re practically neighbors. I’m in Ohio.
Hi there!
I love that you know what works for you.
Moleskin = unbeatable quality!
I am also from Ohio!
I keep on hearing about Scrivener, I must check it out 🤔
I keep hearing about Scrivener, too!
It takes some getting used to, but once you’ve got what you need under your belt, it’s excellent.
Beth; Texas, USA; computer for typing, ball point with black ink when handwritten is necessary.
Nice to meet you!
Hey, Beth! I love your Don’t Panic photo!
Thanks! It's a t-shirt I had made when I turned 42.
Waves to a fellow Texan (I'm a native transplanted to California.)
I'm somewhat the reverse. I'll claim Southerner but I won't claim Texan, although I've lived here for 42 years - since I was 3 years old, lol.
Lani; Colorado, USA; computer for typing, and my iPad for actual writing, but when I need to write on paper... I'm a Crystal Bic girl, which I know will bring on disappointment for some. :)
Have you met anyone who writes with a feather quill and I know? 😃
I used to love those pens! I distinctly remember the lines they would leave on my inner finger and thumb from the shape of them.
MacKenzie; USA; Idaho; pen and paper/printed info for research; computer for actual writing. M
Mac is also a great character in the Miss Fisher Murder Mystery series. Agree - yougot a cool name MacKenzie
Random, but when I see Mac in any form in a name, I think of Mac from Veronica Mars. She’s awesome and I love your name!
Ah, I was just in Idaho last month. SO beautiful!
