Hey, Runners!
First of all, I would like to say thanks to everyone who’s been hanging out for the remainder of this experiment. It’s been really great for me to get all of this material into written form, rather than the slap-dash lecture notes that I riff off of while teaching live.
Second, there was a bit of a blip recently. Here’s the news; Ian and I bought a van, and we’re kitting it out to a full camper so we can start living in it in August. We’ve had this dream for a long time, and now seemed like the time.
Unfortunately… now it also the time for my agent hunt, a revision, a new Year of Writing Magically which includes writing a new book, producing for The Passion of the Nerd, trying to fit in protests because what the unholy fuck, getting a kid ready to launch, and, of course, the last few sections of rotWIPs.
There’s other stuff, too, but in my exhaustion, I’ve forgotten it.
Predictably, I got sick, and then I got exhausted. I had to take a few days to do nothing but lie around, and forgot to post my pre-written rotWIPs posts… right about the same time that I realized I’d scheduled an extra week into the program that I didn’t have content for. So, all it worked out, but it’s time to admit something.
My cool energy audit idea is a very good one, and looking at it, some things need to go.
rotWIPs will sunset after this year
I’ve had a load of fun doing rotWIPs, but without a large group to keep it going into the later parts—people usually drop off after Discovery and Drafting—it may not be the right format for this project. I think it would work if I was better at reaching more writers, but I’m terrible at marketing, and as such, there just aren’t enough people to justify another year.
That said, it has been wonderful getting all of this written down, and I think there will be a Year of Writing Magically follow-along-in-your-own-time book/workbook in the future… the way down the road future.
In the meantime, the Year of Writing Magically modules are still available if you want to join the live group for Discovery (starting Saturday) or Drafting (starting in June.)
For those of you who are paid rotWIPpers, we’ll be continuing the rest of the year as scheduled, no worries. And for those of you who paid and fell off, the material will be here for you when you’re ready.
