Hey, Runners!
I don’t know about you, but I hate being bored. My phone is ever at the ready should I be stuck in a line or waiting room somewhere, with its games and audiobooks and endless doomscrolling, depending on my mood.
But here’s a thing I’ve discovered: There is nothing better for my creativity than being bored.
I go on multiple road trips every year. In the past twelve months, I’ve been to the Hudson Valley in New York; Tucson, Arizona; Irvine, California; Chicago, Illinois; and Kirkland, Washington.
I make my car into a little camper and sleep on the road as I go, spending days doing nothing but driving and popping into a Planet Fitness here and there to get some movement in and take a shower.
And these road trips are always, without fail, game changers for my creativity.
