Hey, Runners!
It’s July.
How did that happen?
Rude of you, Time.
Anyway, as we are now less than two months out from the start of the Running of the WIPs, I thought it would be a good time to answer some questions about how the Running of the WIPs is going to work.
So here are the first couple of handy FAQs that I’m going to answer this week.
Do I need to know what I’m going to write?
No. The Running of the WIPs includes a full discovery process, so all you need to know is that you want to write something.
Question: Do you have any questions for FAQ week? Leave them in the comments!
Is it okay if I continue work on something I’ve already started?
Absolutely! We will walk through all the phases of writing a book from scratch, but you can follow along with something you’ve already started work on or started writing.
What if I can’t finish my book on the class schedule?
No worries at all. People write at different speeds, and life interferes. Both of my writing workshops—The Running of the WIPs and the Year of Writing Magically—are built to show you how to figure out how you write and what process is best for you. We have periods of time where we work in the different phases of writing (predominantly Discovery, Drafting, and Revision) and there will be a schedule to that, but the most important thing is not keeping to the schedule, it’s finding an approach to writing that works for you. Everyone will be adjusting to their own needs, but the community will always be there, and that’s the really important thing.
That’s it for today! I’ll be back with more questions throughout the week, so if you have any questions you’d like answered, please put them in the comments!
Would you recommend starting WIPS and then transitioning to the year of writing magically?
... none yet but love a good FAQ
